WHY RISK ADVISORY MATTERS NOW
Growing companies, growing risks
Emerging technology companies operate in environments where risks evolve as quickly as the businesses themselves. Investors, boards and customers expect formal risk governance before most growth-stage companies have the time or expertise to build it. Traditional risk advisory is priced for the Fortune 500. Broker-led “risk reviews” mistake insurance analysis for enterprise risk management. Continuum exists to serve the gap in between.
OUR SERVICES
Four ways we help
Our services work together across the risk management lifecycle. Start wherever you need to — layer the others as your business and governance evolve.
OUR METHODOLOGY
Identify. Assess. Treat. Monitor.
Every Continuum engagement follows the same four-stage methodology, aligned to ISO 31000 and COSO ERM principles. The depth and duration vary by service line — the stages do not. This is what makes our work consistent across consultants, sectors and geographies.
Identify
Understand the business and its risks
Structured document review, management interviews and external scanning to identify the material risks facing the organisation across six core categories.
Assess
Score, prioritise and visualise
Likelihood and impact scoring on a 5×5 matrix. Control effectiveness assessment. A populated risk register and heat map showing where attention is needed.
Treat
Choose the right response
For each material risk, consider four options: avoid, reduce, transfer or accept. Insurance is one form of transfer — considered after reduction options have been evaluated.
Monitor
Maintain ongoing oversight
Clear risk ownership, indicators, reporting cadence and review cycles. For one-off engagements a framework handover; for retained clients we do the ongoing work.
FROM ASSESSMENT TO ACTION
Insurance is one option — not the starting point
Identifying risks is the easy part. Deciding how to treat them is the work that matters. Continuum helps clients evaluate the full range of practical options — strengthening internal controls, improving operational resilience, reducing exposures, accepting manageable risks, or transferring selected financial risks through insurance or other mechanisms.
Insurance can form an important part of the picture, particularly where organisations face exposures that could materially affect their financial position. But insurance is not always the most effective solution — and it is never the first thing we consider. Our advisory recommendations are driven by the organisation’s risk profile, appetite and objectives.
OUR RISK EXPERTS
Specialist expertise. One consistent approach.
Effective risk management requires both industry understanding and practical experience. Continuum works with an international network of independent Risk Experts specialising in enterprise risk, operational risk, technology, cybersecurity and emerging industries.
Our consultants bring experience from financial institutions, technology companies and professional advisory environments. Every engagement follows Continuum’s structured methodology and reporting standards — providing clients with consistent, practical and actionable outcomes regardless of which Risk Expert leads the work.
Qualified
Recognised professional risk management qualifications (IRM, FRM, PRM, CRM or equivalent) plus deep sector experience.
Experienced
Minimum ten years of enterprise, operational or technology risk experience in financial services, fintech, digital assets or emerging technology.
Independent
Working under the Continuum brand but drawn from an international network — not a captive team shaped by one firm’s biases.
Consistent
Every Risk Expert delivers to the same Continuum methodology, templates and quality standards — so you know what to expect.
